Leading Adelaide based consulting engineering company, Applidyne Australia, has established a new venture, Red Automotive Technologies, to commercialise its novel electric vehicle and home energy technology. This technology solves the range limitations of electric vehicles (EVs) and allows homes to go off grid. A range extender engine in the EV is used to greatly extend the usable range of the EV. When at home the car is docked and can supply electricity, heating and hot water to the home. This allows a home powered by solar energy to get through the difficult winter months without grid power. A home battery supplies the home when the EV is not docked and solar power is not available.
